FLAD and Georgetown University have launched the open call for the position of Visiting Professor, in the areas of Political Science and International Relations, for the Spring semester of 2022. See down below how to apply.

Main objective

FLAD and the Department of Government at Georgetown University (Washington, D.C., USA) seek a Visiting Professor to teach a semestral course, in English, on a topic within the area of International Relations and/or Political Science related to contemporary Portugal, in the context of transatlantic relations and global politics. Research on related topics may also be taken into account in the evaluation process.

The final decision on the subject to be taught will be made by agreement between Georgetown University and the selected candidate.

Applicants must also accompany and collaborate with FLAD’s work in Washington D.C., whether at that University or in the relationship with institutions based in the US capital, including think tanks, foundations, other universities, and various local contacts.

Period

A Visiting Professor will be selected for the following academic semester:

  • Spring semester 2022 (January-May).

Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Possess a PhD degree;
  • Have published research within his/hers academic field;
  • Own teaching experience in English.

  • Motivation letter;
  • CV in Portuguese and English;
  • Proposal of the course syllabus in English;
  • Copy of the PhD certificate;
  • Two letters of recommendation from professionals within the academic field (research and/or teaching);
  • Consent under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR Consent);

To the chosen candidate, FLAD will award a grant in the amount of 5.500 USD/month, with health insurance and round-trip travel additionally included.
