FLAD, in partnership with Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (BNP), launches the 2024 edition of the short-term research fellowship program.
This program aims to stimulate the knowledge of Portuguese culture in the U.S., as well as to increase scientific and cultural cooperation and exchange between the two countries. The FLAD-BNP scholarship is open to students, faculty, and researchers affiliated with higher education institutions or research centers in the United States and aims to support research on topics related to Portuguese history, culture, and language, based on the collections of Biblioteca Nacional de Portugal (BNP).
BNP and FLAD intend to welcome researchers in order to provide them with a productive stay in Portugal, giving them the means they need to develop their work and financing their travel and stay.
The fellowships have a minimum duration of one month and a maximum of three months and must be started by December 2024.
The amount of support is €1,400 per month, plus an additional €750 to subsidize travel-related costs.
Each candidate must include in the application:
- Application form, properly filled out;
- Curriculum vitae of the candidate;
- Brief biographical note on the candidate;
- Description of the study plan and the project it is part of;
- Document proving the link to the University or Institution the candidate is associated with;
- Credentials that support the project and that are of interest for the consideration of the application.
Applications must be sent in Portuguese and by email to bolsas@bnportugal.gov.pt until March 31, 2024. More information about the application submission process here.
