The fragile life balance Lila has built in her Catskill mountain home with her husband Edgar and their teenage daughters is shaken when Edgar reveals the birth of a child with another woman. This is followed by a summer of heightened emotions and affective reconfigurations. Lila tries to react by exploring the bright and dark corners of pain, anger, and desire, notably through her friendship with a younger man. Hilary Brougher articulates the pieces of this turbulent family puzzle with surprising simplicity, making a tender, intelligent and adult film.
