Applications are open for the short-term research grants FLAD-Torre do Tombo, aimed at researchers with links to U.S. universities interested in studying the funds and documentary collections of Torre do Tombo.
This initiative is a partnership between FLAD and the Directorate-General for Book, Archives and Libraries – National Archives of Torre do Tombo (DGLAB-ANTT), with the aim of promoting the Portuguese language and culture in the USA.
This program is intended for researchers from universities and/or research centers of the United States, who are interested in studying the documentary collections of the National Archives of Torre do Tombo, to develop projects in the field of archiving and Portuguese history, culture and/or language.
The scholarships have a minimum duration of one month and a maximum of three months and must be started by December.
The expected support is 1,400 euros per month, and may also include the payment of the round trip up to a maximum of 750 euros, subject to proof of expenditure.
Each candidate must include in the application:
- Application form;
- Curriculum vitae of the candidate;
- Description of the plan of studies to be conducted at DGLAB-ANTT and how it intersects with the project in which the candidate is integrated;
- Document proving the link to the University or Institution to which the candidate is associated;
- Acredit credentials of the project and that are of interest for the assessment of the application;
Applications must be sent in Portuguese by email to dsieq@dglab.gov.pt by April 17, 2022.
The evaluation is made by a jury composed of FLAD and DGLAB-ANTT.
Applicants will be notified of the results by 29 April 2021.
