The scholarship Papers@USA aims to internationalize the scientific knowledge produced in Portugal and support the academic development of participants, supporting researchers in the presentation of papers and communications in the United States.

Requests for support for poster presentations are not considered. The scholarship will have a maximum value of 1,200 euros.

Applications

Individual applications will be accepted, according to the following requirements:

  • Portuguese nationality or resident in Portugal;
  • Have experience with the English language;
  • To be a doctoral student, teacher or researcher from a Portuguese Higher Education institution and/or research center;
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from the Portuguese institution to which the candidate is linked;
  • Attach the paper (or presentation slides, in case the conference does not require an extended paper), along with the respective proof of acceptance by the conference organization (if at the time of application you do not yet have this document, you can send it up to 30 days after the closing of the call, to margarida.carvalho@flad.pt).
  • The CV to be inserted may not exceed six A4 sheets.

Deadlines for submission of the applications

Applications must be submitted 4 months prior to the start date of the North American conference to which the participant has been accepted. Thus, the application deadlines for conference papers in the USA starting from:

  • January 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 September 2024
  • February 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 October 2024
  • March 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 November 2024
  • April 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 December 2024
  • May 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 January 2025
  • June 2025: Applications from 1 to 28 February 2025
  • July 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 March 2025
  • August 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 April 2025
  • September 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 May 2025
  • October 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 June 2025
  • November 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 July 2025
  • December 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 August 2025
