Support for the participation of American speakers in seminars, workshops and conferences in Portugal, organized by Portuguese institutions.

With the aim of fostering the exchange of knowledge between the two scientific communities, and solidifying a lasting relationship between Portuguese and North American institutions, FLAD awards scholarships that aim to promote the coming of North American lecturers to Portugal. FLAD grants a total or partial allowance for travel and/or expenses during the speakers’ stay in Portugal, up to a maximum amount of €1,200 per speaker and up to a total amount of €2,500 per request.

Applications

Applications must be submitted by the Portuguese Institution that organizes the event, containing the following elements:

  • Meeting program;
  • Budget of the meeting discriminating expenses and revenues, with indication of co-sponsors;
  • Brief biographical note from speakers from the U.S.

Deadlines for submitting applications:

Applications must be made 4 months beforethe start date of the Portuguese conference that intends to receive a North American speaker. Thus, the application deadlines for seminars, workshops and conferences in Portugal, starting from:

  • January 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 September 2024
  • February 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 October 2024
  • March 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 November 2024
  • April 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 December 2024
  • May 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 January 2025
  • June 2025: Applications from 1 to 28 February 2025
  • July 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 March 2025
  • August 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 April 2025
  • September 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 May 2025
  • October 2025: Applications from 1 to 30 June 2025
  • November 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 July 2025
  • December 2025: Applications from 1 to 31 August 2025
