The General-Directorate for Consular Affairs and the Portuguese Communities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has created an open call for financial support to the Portuguese Diaspora Associativism.
The significant increase in initiatives with an associative nature from Portuguese communities has been very important to continue the cultural bond with Portugal, but it also represents a sign of integration in the host countries.
National or foreign legal persons may apply, as well as associations and federations of Portuguese communities, legally constituted for more than one year, with no partisan or lucrative goals, that aim for the socio-cultural benefit of the Portuguese community.
The priority areas to be supported will be projects that focus on:
- The Portuguese language and culture;
- Young people, social inclusion, training, and professional development;
- Civic and political participation;
- Combating xenophobia;
- Cooperation with Portuguese micro and small companies living abroad wishing to invest in Portugal.
Over the past few decades, FLAD has followed the dedication and the dynamic spirit of the Portuguese-American communities in the United States. And we have witnessed that it is possible to be a true American citizen and maintain the bond with Portugal, promoting the language and encouraging the civic and political participation of the members of the Portuguese-American community.
Therefore, we encourage all non-profit associations and federations in the United States that keep our traditions alive or that defend the interests of the Portuguese-American community to apply for this opportunity.
Applications are open until December 31st through the consular post or consular section of the Portuguese embassy in the USA.
See here the regulations for application.
See you soon!
